What is a forensic document examiner?

A forensic document examiner is someone who studies questioned documents by comparing handwriting, detecting changes such as erasures or overwrites, discovering the sequence of writing and any other problems that have to do with documents and the writing or typing within them.

The largest number of problems for forensic document examiners deals with signature identification of legal documents such as wills, deeds, contracts, checks and credit card charges.
